First: His name, Lineage, and Nickname:
He is the reciter Yazid Ibn Al-Qa`qa`, Imam Abu Ja`far Al-Makhzoumi Al-Madani, one of the ten reciters, a well-known tab’i, born in Medina in the year 35 H.
Second: His standing and knowledge:
A great Tab’i, one of the ten reciters, a well-known person, the Imam of the people of Medina in reciting, ended up as the head of the recitation in Medina, and he recited to the people for a long time.
It was narrated that he recited during the time of Muawiyah Bin Abi Sufyan, May God be pleased with him; he was also a diligent mufti, a strong fasting worshiper.
Yaqoub Bin Jaafar Bin Abi Katheer Al-Ansari said: The Imam of the people in Medina was Abu Jaafar Yazid Bin Al-Qaqa`. It was narrated that when he was young, he went to Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet PBUH, and she wiped his head and prayed for him to be blessed. While Suleiman bin Jammaz narrated about him that: He used to fast one day and not fast the other. It is the fasting of Prophet Dawud, peace be upon him, and he continued doing it for some time.

Abu Jaafar narrated the recitation of Abdullah Bin Abbas and Abu Hurayrah, may God be pleased with them, and of his master, Abdullah Bin Ayyash Bin Abi Rabia Al-Makhzoumi, and Abdullah Bin Ayyash had read to Ubayy Bin Kaab, may God be pleased with him, and Ubayy recited to the Prophet PBUH.
Fourth: Narrators about his recitations :
The narrators of his recitations: Nafi’ Bin Abdul Rahman Bin Abi Naim, Abdul Rahman Bin Zaid Bin Aslam the freed slave of Omar Bin Al-Khattab, May God be pleased with him, his son Yaqoub Bin Yazid, his daughter Maymoona, and others.
His recitations were transferred by the reciter Abu Al-Harith Issa Bin Wardan Al-Madani and Suleiman Bin Muslim Bin Jammaz Al-Madani.
Fifth: Transformation of spreading and extinction:
The reading of Abu Jaafar Al-Madani became famous in Medina for a short time, until the task of Nafi’ came and continued until the fifth century H.

Sixth: His death:
Abu Jaafar died in the caliphate of Marwan Bin Muhammad in the year 130 H. Imam Nafi’ Bin Abi Naim narrated: “When Abu Jaafar was washed after his death, they looked at his chest, and it was like a paper from the Qur’an,” and he said: “Those who attended did not doubt that it was the light of the Qur’an.”
